点评:I walked into Feniqia with a quiet hopefulness. The location is beautiful — tucked into a charming corner of Oslo that feels alive, yet calm. The setting has soul. You can sit back with a cup of tea and feel, for a moment, like you’re back in Beirut or Batroun, just watching the world drift by.
The service was genuinely lovely. The staff were respectful, and knew the menu, or at least that is the first impression. Hospitality always matters if you’re talking about the Middle East — and they got that somewhat right. It’s the kind of place where you feel that the servers are willing to serve, willing to look after you.
But then came the food.
I ordered the vegetarian meze, expecting the familiar burst of za’atar, sumac, garlic, olive oil — the whole vibrant palette of our table. What I got instead was… polite. Mild. The flavours were shy, the textures a little flat, and the portions felt like they belonged in a fine dining room, not a Levantine kitchen. For what they charge, I expected more generosity — in spirit, taste, and substance.
Feniqia gets so much right — the mood, the ambiance, the respect for diners. And maybe that’s why I want it to succeed. But to truly honour Lebanese cuisine, they’ll need to be bolder in the kitchen. Lebanon does not do ‘delicate’ meze — it does food that speaks loud and lingers long after the plate is cleared.
I’ll come back. But next time, I hope the food remembers where it came from.
