点评：We were looking forward to staying in a stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Athens – but were deeply disappointed. From the very first night, sleep was impossible due to unbearable noise that lasted well into the night. The music wasn’t coming from a nearby bar, but from inside the hotel itself.
What makes it even more tragic: the music is part of the hotel’s own program. A musician plays an electric violin (or harp?) in the hotel’s bar, and the sound echoes throughout the building. We had hoped things would quiet down around 10 PM – but instead, the music just got louder. You have to decide: are you running a hotel or a nightclub? You can’t be both.
After a completely sleepless first night, we asked to switch rooms. The staff was very friendly and tried to help – but the second room was just as noisy. It seems there are no quiet rooms in the entire building.
So we didn’t even stay for the second night and checked out early. To the hotel’s credit, they did refund the nights we didn’t stay – that was at least something positive.
The rooms themselves are beautifully designed, and the staff is lovely – which makes it even more unfortunate that they have to suffer the consequences of poor management decisions. I genuinely felt sorry for them – they’re clearly doing their best, but there’s only so much you can do when someone insists on blasting live electric music through the whole hotel.
I’ve been traveling for over 40 years – and this is the first hotel we’ve ever had to flee from.
Bottom line: If you actually plan to sleep in Athens, do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel has received so many positive reviews.
