Madeira Tours by Diogo的点评
点评：was vacillating between a bus tour, hop on hop off, and a taxi tour. For this stop in our cruise, I am glad that I did the taxitour. The taxi tour is per car, not per person. So if you are 4 in number it becomes very economical indeed considering that you are not sharing it with 50 others.
After reading the reviews between the taxitours and private messaging some TA members, I decided on Diogo.
He drives a commercial/public taxi. A clean yellow minivan. BTW all taxis in Madeira are yellow in color.
He was at the port at the appointed time with your name. I suggest for faster recognition, you do the same with his name on a piece of paper- which is what I did.
I booke a 4 hour tour. We went to all the special places in Funchal. He kept a running commentary about the Madiera which he mentioned was an autonomous region of Portugal. He told us that if we wanted to do the toboggan ride, we have to do it first thing as it gets really packed later in the morning. This alone is a great tip on conserving your time.
Later I elected to extend my tour to include the Nun's Valley and the Fisherman's wharf (Camara de Lobos) He found us a place to buy a local sugar cane cake made by a family owned business. I don't think a bus tour a bus tour stops here. It is a small place and cannot accommodate 50 people.
Diogo is very friendly, with a great command of English (with a British accent). Great local knowledge. I found him to be very reliable.
Don't forget to give a tip. Well worth it!
