点评:We had a drink at Cafe entrepot on our way back from the towpath along the canal where we photographed the last mid-1900s marine tower (at Aarschotsesteenweg) sadly about to be demolished. The cafe is located in the modernist former Customs Office of the canal port, built in 1954 to the plans of architect Victor Broos, who also designed the marine tower. The inscription ‘Openbaar Entrepot’ (Public Warehouse) refers to this original function. Today, the premises, renamed OPEK (‘Openbaar Entrepot voor de kunsten’), house a wide variety of cultural activities and a spacious, artsy cafe. There is a large outdoor area but the weather was too cold, and, at present, the neighbourhood is a building site.
My companion was happy to find they had Zinnebir from the Brussels Brasserie de la Senne on tap. I had a glass of the white house wine, which was a decent Sauvignon. Service was friendly and efficient and we liked the relaxed atmosphere.
