There is always a risk going back to somewhere you love as times change and high standards are hard to maintain. In this case I needn't have worried, familiar faces greeted us, and the welcome was genuinely warm. Obviously the most important thing for most people is the food, which although I didn't think it would have been possible to improve on, it has. I won't describe the four course sampling menu, as it changes regularly according to available produce. All I can say is that every plate was exquisitely prepared and presented, and totally delicious, obviously prepared with passion by the highly skilled team in the kitchen. You can trust the team to offer you the perfect drinks pairing with each course, with or without alcohol, Roel even introduced me to a great beer brewed specifically for pairing with shellfish dishes. The value for money offered by De Oude Tijden is really good based on the standard of the food and the overall dining experience, if you are into the finest dining, don't miss this restaurant if you are in the lovely city of Groningen
