点评:We searched around Lugano online to pick a nice place to eat for my partner's birthday, and landed on Flamel. We chose to do the 7 course tasting menu with the wine and cocktail pairing.
The meal was a joy from start to finish, we started with 3 small plates - courgette stems were the best of the 3, well set out and delicious.
We were then served what was quite frankly a mountain of bread and butter, before the courses started coming thick and fast. We had some cured fish (zander is what they call it in Swiss German, I think in English we'd say pike), a celebration of tomato dish featuring stuffed sundries tomato, tomato water and fried tomato ball. My personal favourite came next - risotto with roasted apricots and apricot jam, genuinely one of the best dishes I've had in any tasting menu. Sea bass with a ginger sauce and soy glazed pak choy was enjoyable, and the equally strong flavoured duck that followed was also lovely. The 2 sweet courses were a fake banana made up of white chocolate and passionfruit and a beautifully crafted strawberry and raspberry ice cream cake type thing.
The drinks that went along with each course were lovely, it was the first time I'd done a pairing that mixed wines and cocktails throughout the meal, and the cocktails were really nicely explained to us and all tasted fantastic, with notes that were unique from other similar cocktails I'd had previously.
If I were to give one piece of constructive feedback it would be that we perhaps didn't get as much explanation of the dishes as we might have liked - I would have liked to hear more about the locality of the produce as seemed to be celebrated in our introduction, but I recognise that might have been because we don't speak Italian and so required the server to translate for us.
Overall it was a fantastic experience, we were treated great by the serving staff and would love to come back if we're ever back in Lugano!
