点评：We're frequest visitors to Cadiz, and were looking forward to sampling Mare - having already visited and greatly enjoyed several other high-quality/tasting menu restaurants in the city and the wider province (including one where the chef had previously worked).
Having checked in to our hotel (which was excellent - Olom, just opposite the cathedral) and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink we walked to the restaurant for our 21:00 reservation - only to find the shutters down and the place closed. We tried to phone - no answer. We sent a WhatsApp message - 48 hours later, at the time of writing this review, no answer.
It seems we're not the first to have this experience, but it's the first time it's ever happened to us. There could have been a justifiable reason for having to close - but the restaurant is small, so it would not have taken much to have contacted us (and perhaps other disappointed guests) or to have put a notice on the shutter. As it was, we gave them the benefit of the doubt for 15 minutes, and then managed to get the last available table that evening at Contrasena, which we'd previously been to. They were professional and lovely - so we did have an enjoyable evening, despite Mare.
It would be good to hear from Mare, if they're minded to get in touch. We've never submitted a one-star review before, and we might not even have posted this 'warning' review if Mare had contacted us by now...
