Gotcha Restaurant的点评
点评：I was living in Berlin for a few months with a friend and Gotcha was a firm favourite of ours. The food is delicious and the prices aren’t bad, but the service is pretty awful. They sort of just throw the food down in front of you without speaking and they don’t ever check on you throughout the meal, which is fine as it can be annoying when they come back to the table endlessly, but if you had to call them over for another drink or any additional requirements, you can tell that they are irritated by you. When we finished one particular meal, a waiter, who hadn’t been our waiter that night, asked us how much we wanted to pay, and we said the amount on the bill. He explained that the figure on the bill did not include a tip. I politely told him I understood that and would like to just pay the amount on the bill. He asked why and I explained that the food was nice, but that nothing about the experience compelled me to pay even more money then I already was. Keep in mind the service had been poor, he wasn’t even our waiter and he never once asked if we liked the food. He became quite angry and asked again for an explanation. I told him I enjoyed the food but that in relation to the service I was happy to just pay the bill amount as it. Eventually he moved on to my friend and the whole thing started again. When she also only paid the bill amount he laughed out loud and asked what country we were from. He finally took the payment and we left to glares and silence from the bar staff. Unfortunately a lot of places were like that in Berlin, they expect a tip for everything, even when it’s self-service tea and coffee in cafes.
