A 75-year old is "let loose" in a Virtual Reality room! What an experience!

点评：I'm retired - very! For my 75th birthday, my daughter bought me a gift card so I could experience a VR "escape room". (I am still a "geek". When I was a young teacher fifty years ago, I was the first to bring in a Sinclair ZX80 microcomputer to my school. It was the future!) My daughter agreed to join me in the "escape room". We arrived and were greeted cheerfully; the space was prepared, and we were instructed on how to use the headsets. If you have not used a VR headset before, it can be very "counter-intuitive" - you have to move without taking any steps!! We were warned this beforehand but it was still difficult to overcome basic instincts! The young male VR guide stayed with us, and encouraged us with hints (he could see how inexperienced we were!) At one point, I had stepped out of the play area and the guide had to ask me to step into a virtual void to get me back in the right place. Such was the "virtual reality" I was very reluctant to do what he asked - for fear of "falling" hundreds of feet! We did not complete the quest, I don't know that we got even close, but - as my daughter commented when I took the headset off - my face was a picture of joy and wonder! I cannot recommend the VR experience too highly - whatever your age, if you still think that a computer is a pretty awesome thing AND YOU ARE NOT INTIMIDATED BY IT, this is a must-do experience. The Manchester Meet Space VR Team were very kind and professional - whatever they thought of a 75-year old blundering through their electronics, I was treated extremely well. To the point, in fact, that one day I will ask my daughter for a "return match" - we've got to solve the mystery of the Pharaoh's Tomb, in the middle of a Manchester industrial estate!
