点评:We had a family meal, and were happy we’d got a booking just the day before. Opting for the Sunday carvery; we all chose one or two meats ( there were 3 on offer). Plenty to choose from, although no mashed potatoes, or cauliflower cheese (only at an extra cost). Although the food itself was nice, we were so disappointed that it was cold. Obviously the ‘heated’ area where the food is kept just isn’t sufficient, and all the lids were off; somewhere like the Toby Carvery has boiling hot lamps to keep the food warm. The place just doesn’t feel warm and cosy at all there; there’s no fire, and felt generally cold. I really want to see this local pub do well in the restaurant and I think changing a few things would transform the experience. Also to add there wasn’t a chef serving but the manager - no apron on or hair tied back, just wondering around doing a variety of jobs, which doesn’t come across as very hygienic I’m afraid. She was friendly though.
At 17.95 per roast, you want it to be top notch, and what’s frustrating is that it could easily be that.
