Poor maintenance and upkeep on rentals

点评：Rental bikes are probably OK if using for a day or short rides. Three of us rented "Touring" bicycles for a 4 day trip on Ring of Kerry. The poor maintenance and upkeep caused us to visit another bike shop for repairs on two of them. The third also had problems with shifting.
When I challenged the owner operator at the College Street location he was defensive asking what did I expect for 20 Euros a day. I told him I expected bikes that could last 4 days without mechanical issues that could have been easily prevented with good preventive procedures and tuning.
To their credit they did deliver a new bike while in Portmagee after it blew through an old tire and then broke a spoke. This person rides about 7,000 miles a year and is experienced. My bike could not shift front chain rings and I was told it was only a "minor adjustment". A minor adjustment to someone who doesn't know how to do it makes the bike very compromised.
I was disappointed with the owner/operators (two brothers) and their attitude towards our problems.
Strongly advise using other vendors if possible.
