点评：Wife’s birthday meal out in Cork. This was a brilliant way to spend the early evening.
We went upstairs to the restaurant and the service was from the off attentive but not overbearing, knowledgeable but discrete and best of all friendly.
We started with a couple of glasses of rose fizz before two bar snacks (little tasting plates) I had the wild garlic kimchi croquettes and my wife had the Thai fish nuggets although we shared. The moment we tasted them we knew it was going to be a good evening and we were not disappointed.
I had John Dory with courgette in a chicken and miso butter sauce. The fish was delicate but so very tasty and honestly I could have drunk the jus (probably not the right thing to do mind). My wife had the monkfish with beetroot and a Katkut sauce (a light curry sauce) it was also beautifully cooked. We had chips (excellent) and colcannon which was just amazing (particularly for the last bit of sauce that I was too embarrassed just to drink).
This was with a glass (pitcher 250mL) of white wine each (Fiano and Pecorino).
We decided to have dessert, which we rarely do, but we didn’t want it to end. I had caramelised white chocolate with milk sorbet (does anyone remember Dime bars? dime …bar) whilst my wife had brown bread ice cream and jelly (possibly not quite as good as the rest of the meal).
Overall a spectacular meal and well worth the €162 plus tip. Felt guilty leaving a 10% tip as the service was worth more. Sorry guys will make it up to you next time.
