点评：I had always enjoyed eating at Dows in the past, but have to admit its not been for a few years since moving out of town.
As our local regular eatery was closed we decided to give Brambles at Dows a go . Oh how it has changed , you have to go through the public bar to get to the dining area and on entering it felt like a scene from Deliverance, everyone seemed to stop what they were doing and stared as we walked through... I didn't recall anyone playing the banjo on the front steps though. !!
We were seated by a rather young but pleasant enough waitress and duly ordered food. We asked for some drinks and were told we needed to order at the bar which meant leaving the dining room and going back into the bar and pay separately There were a few what I can only describe as rather "fragrant" folk propping up the bar.
The Steak and Ale pie was truly a thing to behold but sadly not in a good way. The "puff" pastry resembled a piece of square thin cardboard and was sitting rather forlornly atop a brown soupy gravy containing rather small pieces of meat. In all I counted 5 bits. This culinary delight came with chips, peas and carrots. The chips were the best bit on the plate. My friend had the Sticky Toffee pudding which was clearly a microwaved treacle sponge masquerading as sticky toffee pudding. So disappointed as we had high hopes for our meal here. All things considered we wont be returning .
