点评：Café Portrait is a real highlight within the Scottish National Portrait Gallery — a relaxed, stylish space with great coffee, fresh food, and a calm atmosphere that makes it an ideal stop during a day of exploring Edinburgh.
I visited on Monday and was surprised by how busy it was, but the staff handled it all with such ease and professionalism. The two blonde girls behind the counter stood out in particular — friendly, upbeat, and totally in control, even with a steady stream of customers. Despite the rush, they kept the atmosphere light and welcoming.
One of them even took a few minutes to chat with me about places to visit outside the city. She spoke warmly about the Scottish Borders and recommended a few spots, including Melrose Abbey — which turned out to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I saw on my trip.
It’s rare to find a café where the staff not only serve you well but also go out of their way to make you feel welcome and help enhance your overall travel experience. That extra care really made an impression. I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m in Edinburgh.
