点评:This was a first time visit to this café which is located in a former church near the Ewart Library and Dumfries Academy, so it’s a bit out of sight to those not familiar with the town, yet only a few minutes walk from the High Street.
Parking is available in the street nearby if you’re driving (and you‘re lucky to get a space - we did).
The interior has been converted well to maintain the church’s features yet avoid feeling that you’re having tea with the vicar. Plenty of space to chat freely in a relaxed atmosphere. It was reasonably busy when we popped in for lunch but we were served in good time by pleasant staff. The café provides work experience for people with additional needs and those we met were doing a good job with a little support from others.
We both had Brie & Cranberry Paninis which were served with salad & coleslaw (£6.25). Add to this a couple of Americano coffees (£2.70) with a couple of pieces of Forrest Fruit Cake (£2.95) and our bill came to a very reasonable £23.80. The food and drink was very good and we’d happily re-visit on another occasion - on quality and price they matched, and in reality exceeded, that of the local competition.
Toilets were unisex individual units - the one I visited had ran out of toilet paper which I advised staff about upon leaving and this was to be sorted.
