点评：We visited here for a champagne afternoon tea. It was a birthday treat for my 85 y.o. Mum, who was returning to her home city.
First impressions were excellent, the doorman at Grand Central Hotel was very helpful and friendly, as was the lady who showed us to the lift.
On arrival in The Observatory, we were shown to a table that appeared to be in the corner of the Bar. We were overshadowed by several high tables populated by a steady stream of drinkers coming and going.
The service for our afternoon tea was very slow, whilst waiting we took a wander around to take in the views, We found the east side of the establishment seemed to be an area reserved for afternoon tea, it was obvious we were very much the poor relations squashed in to the corner of the bar.
The afternoon tea itself was a disappointment, sandwiches were served to each of us on small side plates rather than on a stand. Whilst tasty, the total bread per person was approx 1 slice of bread with crusts removed. No replenishment was offered. We waited around an hour for the cakes to come after the sandwiches were finished. Cake selection was very good but could not compensate for what can only be described as a very poor experience.
I feel slightly uneasy writing this review because all the staff were friendly but there is something seriously amiss in this in this establishment. We will not return for afternoon tea.
