点评：We’ve been to Hickory’s in Castle Bromwich before and always enjoyed it, especially how they celebrate birthdays. That’s why we chose to return for our daughter’s 7th birthday — we knew they usually bring out a treat with a sparkler candle and sing “Happy Birthday,” and she was so excited for that moment.
During our visit, she watched them do it for three other children and couldn’t wait for her turn. Unfortunately, when they brought out her birthday treat, she had just gone to the toilet. Instead of waiting a minute or two for her to return, the staff simply left the dessert on the table — no candle, no sparkler, no singing.
She came back expecting her special moment and was absolutely heartbroken. She ended up in tears. At just 7 years old, she didn’t understand why hers was different — and neither did we.
It was incredibly disappointing, especially when we know from past visits that they normally go out of their way to make birthdays feel special. A little patience would have made such a big difference.
This should have been a happy memory, but instead, it left her feeling really upset — and us, very let down.
