点评：A Lovely Setting, but Missed Opportunities on a Sunny Day.
This is a lovely spot for lunch, perfectly located for river walks and surrounded by beautiful scenery — a truly picturesque setting.
The food was freshly cooked and served hot, but on a gorgeous June day with the garden full to overflowing, it was disappointing to find only hot, hearty options on the menu. There was no sign of seasonal choices to tempt, despite the abundance of fresh summer produce at this time of year. A vibrant salad, a fresh quiche, or even a classic Ploughman’s would have been a welcome option — instead, the main event was a full Sunday roast.
There was a small BBQ set up at the end of the garden, but unfortunately, it didn’t elevate the experience. The food was still hot and heavy, the chips looked dry and unappealing, and the burgers were underwhelming — there wasn’t even that tempting aroma you’d expect from a proper BBQ.
Service was friendly but a little directionless. Plenty of young staff around, though they didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of attentiveness or flow.
Overall, the setting is truly charming — with its beautiful garden and characterful old building, it has huge potential. With a little more thought to seasonal menus and meaningful service, it could be memorable.
