点评:I used the Elizabeth Line to get between Woolwich and Central London. I hadn't used the Elizabeth Line before but had heard good things about it.
The first thing to note is that this is *NOT* a London Underground line. It's name is misleading because it is actually part of the National Rail system, a bit like the London Overground is.
On the plus side, the trains are very clean and well-kept and nicely presented. They are also very spacious and have plenty of carriages, and compared to train services in other parts of the UK (ie. the North), they are very frequent.
However, if you can look past the grandeur of the trains and stations, you realise that the Elizabeth Line is nowhere near as efficient as the London Underground. When using the Underground, it does not matter if you miss a train, 99% of the time it doesn't matter as the next one is usually under 5 minutes away. This is not the case on the Elizabeth Line. Also, whilst on the map, it seems like a quicker way to get across the city, the gaps between the stations are quite large so I think it's quicker to use the tube if you're going a short distance.
The on-board announcements are also poor and less informative compared to the ones on the tube trains.
As a result, this might be a good train system to use long-distance but keep in mind that it does not share the efficiency of the London Underground.
