点评:I was staying in a local hotel for a business trip and wanted something local. The reviews looked good but I should have known that at almost seven PM there were only four people in the restaurant. Currently as I write this I am the only diner.
So I've ordered a starter and a main fish course which was £14. I'm told most diners buy three or four dishes as it's tapas, so in my head I've realised we're looking at £40-50 for a simple meal for one. Ok so I relent and opt for the 'Disco Cauliflower' at about £9. I'm told the tapas come out as and when they are ready - Wagamama you have a lot to answer for.
So the bhaji start comes out and it looks and tastes great, full marks. Then what can only be described as a whole cauliflower covered in every colourful sauce at the chefs disposal smothering it, then crammed onto a side plate and plonked in front of me. My goodness, that's my five-a-day right there folks.
I look up the pass in front of me and there's no sign of my fish, so I pull up my pants and dive into the cauliflower which now, looks bigger than I first remember. I give it a good go. It's well cooked, it tastes delicious, but there's just so much of it. It's not tapas, it's not a side dish, it's a declaration or war on my appetite, and it won. By the time my cod arrives, I'm done in and I eat the cod because I've ordered it, but without the appetite I had ten minutes previously.
The waitress asks if everything is ok, and I politely mention that the cauliflower is not a tapas portion and she agreed saying it is rather a big portion.
Look, I can't fault the staff or the food, but I wouldn't have ordered that in a million years had I known it could feed the England rugby team at half time. Drop the portion size and the price and you're onto a winner.
