The Palm Court Restaurant的点评
点评：We dropped in on spec to see if we could get Sunday lunch and we were pleased with the traditional period keeping of the reception.
We were advised that we could dine in, as non residents but needed to book. Which we did there and then with a half hour wait for seating.
This seemed odd as when we did take our seat the restaurant was very very quiet.
We were taken to our table and were advised someone would be over to take our food and drinks order but we could hep ourselves to the salad bar.
The salad bar was very underwhelming and was awful.
We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our food and drinks order and were only served as we approached staff.
Then one drink was delivered to the table but the 2nd drink, which was only water did not arrive.
We were also flanked by two tables requiring clearing. This only took place once we also brought this to the staff ls attention when chasing up the water.
We appreciate the weather was inclement but the lack of clearing and taking order was unacceptable as the two waiting staff were folding napkins. They were very nicely folded but I think guests should be give attention rather that folding piles of napkins.
When the beef Sunday lunch arrived it was reasonably tasty but the beef was tough and fatty. There were three small roast potatoes and roast parsnips with carrot and Yorkshire pudding. It was very average.
We then visited the dessert bar which consisted of profiteroles with very little chocolate sauce and a few individual cheesecakes. This fell short of the beautiful dessert buffet on website.
Jake the host was apologetic and advised they did have some issues in kitchen and waiting staff were quite new.
My advice to the management is to train your waiting staff to notice their surroundings and clients and ensure priorities are set accordingly.
