点评:This is close to being a good restaurant but we had a fairly disappointing experience eating here midweek.
The menu is great, and we may just have caught the place on a bad night, but the execution of all the dishes we tried left a lot to be desired. The tortilla was probably the best of the bunch but suffered from undercooked potatoes. The rump steak, pardon peppers and the octopus were all so heavily salted that that was all we could taste by the end of the meal. The salt cod fritters were very tasty and the saltiness was forgivable here.
Similarly, the churros had been dredged in a boatload of sugar that had to be scraped off before eating. And the basque cheesecake was grainy, dense and overcooked. With a compote of barely defrosted mixed berries.
The main courses all came very quickly but we then had to wait over half an hour for the desserts, possibly because the restaurant also serves the bar next door. The serving staff were lovely throughout and when we complained, quite mildly, about the wait they took the desserts off the bill.
It’s a lovely room, with a nice atmosphere and very pleasant waiters but let down hugely by food that doesn’t seem to be tasted before it leaves the kitchen.
