Great location but let down by other factors

点评：The location is ideal for Grasmere and other villages. Parking is limited and we were told by a member of staff that if we found a parking space not to move the car - not ideal. Our room opened onto the car park and was not part of the main hotel. We weren't given another option. Whilst it was clean and adequate in size we could hear people's cars pulling up in the car park and luggage being moved etc. We were also disturbed by work being done right
outside our window at 830 in the morning. Food was dreadful. On our first day we told there were no fryers so unless we wanted a sandwich or something with mash we were advised to look elsewhere but this was fine as even the full menu looked very bland and there are lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. Breakfast is basic to say the least. Small portions of hot food and there were no hash browns on our first day. The black pudding was wafer thin and overcooked. My husband has brown sauce and what came out of the 3 bottles we tried was stringy for some reason so maybe out of date or sat under a heat lamp for too long? Everything else is very basic continental and some small details that could be improved such as putting spoons on the table.
