The Dower House的点评
点评：We spent three nights at the Dower House, which is located a stone's throw from Wray Castle. Our room featured an awesome view of the lake and the hills in the distance, with sheep grazing in the fields at close view.
The room was large enough for a queen sized bed, large chest of drawers, a small table with a hospitality tray, and a coat closet by the door which also had room to store our luggage.
The room was bright and cheery with two windows: one facing the parking lot entrance and the other with the magnificent view. Two chairs are strategically placed in front of the window so that one can just relax and enjoy.
There was a small ensuite bathroom with an electric shower that supplied plenty of hot water. Large towels and hand towels, but no washcloths. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were included. Daily housekeeping was included.
The wi-fi was a bit spotty and would drop quite frequently. There is no television in the room, which we actually preferred.
Downstairs, on the main level there is a large sitting room with a large flat screen television, as well as a cozy fireplace, that is designed for the guests' use. This room also has large windows where one can admire the birds as well as the spectacular view. We spent every evening enjoying the company of the fellow guests in the house

Breakfasts were delicious. Choice of porridge; yogurt with a marvelous fruit compote and granola, in addition to a cooked breakfast of your choice. There was no rush for us to complete our meal, and it was served hot.
Dinner is offered most evenings in the house at an extra cost, and we decided to take advantage of that opportunity one evening to avoid the crowded restaurants, and the drive to and from Ambleside. We were served Baked Salmon, Potatoes Coquette, Asparagus and french fries, with Tiramisu for dessert. We were encouraged to bring our own bottle of wine if we preferred to have a drink with dinner.
Both meals are served in a separate dining room that holds three tables, one for each of the rooms. It is situated with a large picture window as well.
The house was comfy, cozy and quiet. What more could one ask for while on holiday? One has access to the grounds of Wray Castle and there are several walks in the area to enjoy.
The only complication we had was arranging the first night's stay prepayment. Cash is required to secure the reservation, and as I live out of the country, I had to secure the services of a third party to transfer the funds. I used a company called Wise, and although it took several days to complete the transfer, it was inexpensive and got the job done. Final payment can be cash or credit. We had presumed cash would be required, so we had withdrawn funds from an ATM in Ambleside.
I highly recommend staying at the Dower House with Margaret as your hostess. You will be in for a real treat.
