In conclusion, a rip off with bad management that used to be great.
In full: A gem when it opened, has gone down hill so much. It was our fourth visit and we came for October best (a deal restaurants put on in oct) and were so disappointed. Online menu said eel, duck etc. reality was ‘mushroom carpaccio’ (chopped up raw mushroom with some oil and Parmesan) and the most under-seasoned ‘courgette fritter’ ever made. Asked the manager about the change and he said it was seasonal - first nothing on there was seasonal and second this menu was designed for October so not sure how they didn’t design it to be in season for October. We went with it as wanted the experience anyway, but sadly the food was very bland and we were served all 5 courses before we’d been there half an hour - our bottle of wine came with the fourth course. As we’d finished our food and has 3/4 of a bottle of wine left, we asked to sit outside to finish it and we were told the tables had been cleared even though we could see them outside. We complained for the second time after paying the bill at the end, and the manager told us he wouldn’t have made us pay, but then proceeded to offer nothing to make up for it, no explanation for the changed menu and made no apology. Such a shame as we loved coming here before. P.s. our waiter was lovely thank you!
