点评:This is the second time we have visited. First time back in September, and then yesterday during storm Daragh. I don't often write reviews because a place has to be either exceedingly good or exceeding bad. As much as I know this place will gain a reputation worthy of the food and service and therefore make future bookings difficult, this place totally deserves it. If you want something a little out of the ordinary that you won't find elsewhere then this is the place. The menu changes daily and the chef knows his stuff and puts out some ballsy dishes. Last night was Devilled Chicken hearts for a starter followed by oven roasted pork chop. Previous visit also had a pork chop but with a rendered pig's trotter (sadly no actual trotter). The OH had celeriac soup and Baked Stinking Bishop. Desserts were also home made and individual. Poached quince on clotted cream.
Front of house was young Rachel. Very professional, very pleasant and very attentive (also very attractive). She was also very engaging, happy to chat about food and what not. She also had an excellent understanding of the chef's dishes. This makes such a difference and this place deserves to be popular. I really can't sing their praises enough. It's just a shame we have to come all the way from Kent! We will never not come here all the time it is as it is. Value wise, it's not cheap but it's affordable it if you want a lovely meal in a beautiful and authentic setting. Well done team (just remember to always find space for us).
