点评:Went into the bull and bush while we were down in Torquay and to be honest it were a bit of a letdown. Looked alright from outside but inside it felt a bit tired and not very welcoming at all.
We ordered at the bar and weren’t expecting anything fancy just basic pub grub done right. I had the pie which was dry bland and clearly not homemade. Tiny as well with hardly any filling. My other half had the fish and chips. Batter was greasy fish was dry and the chips were soft and underdone.
Staff didn’t seem that fussed. No one came over to check if everything was alright and there weren’t much effort to make you feel welcome. Just felt like everyone there was going through the motions.
What made us laugh was the big fuss they kept making about battered Mars bars. Like they were showing off this new wild invention. It’s not. Everyone knows a Scottish lad came up with that in the 90s as a bit of a joke. It were fun back then but the novelty wore off a long time ago. Acting like it’s some fresh idea just felt a bit desperate.
We finished what we could and left pretty sharpish. Out of all the places we tried in Torquay this is the only one I wouldn’t bother going back to. Loads of better pubs nearby where the food’s decent and the staff actually care.
