点评:We popped in for lunch before we went to an appointment, so we’re on a bit of a schedule, but had an hour and a half before we had to be 5 minutes away, so figured it would be fine…
We chose Duttons as we’ve been there before on a few occasions and it was always good.
We were directed to a table, without menus, and sat there, waiting, for 10 minutes before we went to get them ourselves. The waitress said she’d be there ‘in a minute’. Ten minutes later she arrived to take our orders and off she went.
I noticed that the table beside us seemed pretty unhappy at that point and was about to find out why.
Almost an hour later, we still had no food. So we found her again and asked if she had any idea when it might materialise, as we needed to leave in a very short while. She said she’d check, and came back again to say it would ‘probably be five minutes as half of it was ready’.
Ten minutes later, the manager appeared to apologise and say that it would be a further ten minutes and that we should have been told on entry that there was a thirty minute delay (we weren’t and that still doesn’t account for the other 30 minutes…).
At this point, we gave up - I told him we were leaving. He didn’t charge us for the drinks we’d had, but we literally ended up with a supermarket sandwich while running to our appointment.
Not good enough Duttons and reading through the reviews, this has been a problem for a long time - you need to sort it out.
We had literally only ordered sandwiches and soups etc - what could possibly take so long, even on a busy day?
And please don’t ask me to ‘contact you personally’ so you can look into it further, because although the manager on the day apologised, he really didn’t seem that bothered, so there’s really no point.
Definitely won’t be going back.
