Exploring Haida Gwaii Naional Park by boat and kayak

点评：My recently retired son and I took this trip of a life time with Atlas Ocean Tours. we wanted to explore the scenery and culture of the islands of Haida Gwaii National Park. Atlas has 2 cabins, a salon/kitchen, a shared bathroom and a wheelhouse. There were 6 passengers aboard with a boat captain, fishing gear and 6 kayaks.
Our cabin had bunkbeds, comfortable for my 6'2 son. The forward cabin has a double and a single. The salon can also accommodate a double.
Atlas captain Brian amazed us with the history and current affairs of the Haida Nation. He took us to various ancient villages on Haida Gwaii National Park islands. We met Haida Watchmen, caretakers of these sites, who explained the village construction, history and totem carvings.
Brian was a great fishing guide. We caught dungeness crab, prawns, salmon, and lingcod for our dinners. And Brian was a phenomenal chef...we enjoyed the most amazing seafood, veggies and yummy desserts while anchored in quiet, serene coves each night.
We saw abundant sea life: humpback whales, bald eagles, puffins, and giant sea lion colonies. Our trip had two Nat. Geo. moments. One when a humpback whale jumped completely out of water; and when a fish-carrying river otter running up the beach lost his meal to a fish-snatching bald eagle, who then was chased by 2 other eagles.
We loved our trip with Atlas Ocean Tours. This would be a perfect adventure trip for families of six.
