We placed an overpriced order (£36 for 5 pints and a coke)
We were told that the bar staff would bring the order over.
After watching people who were served after us get served and get their drinks, and the “manager” was wandering around topping up the sugar jars, and then doing “important stuff” on his computer I eventually asked where our drinks were.
Several people had been served and got their drinks - ours had not even been started yet.
The “manager” told me that his colleagues behind the bar were at fault, and I really hadn’t been waiting that long.
He would not leave his computer and start our drinks, instead he asked the bar staff to start preparing them.
The ONLY appropriate response from a manager in this situation is “we are really sorry, I will personally get your drinks right away”. Instead, the “manager” didn’t leave his computer and pointed the finger at the bar staff.
Poor is an understatement.
Perhaps more concerning, later in the visit - I found myself in the toilets with a member of the bar staff. After using the urinal, he didn’t wash and dry his hands properly using soap - he simply rinsed his hands briefly under a tap, wiped his hands on his trousers and walked out. He then went straight to serving food to tables.
It is hard to describe the poor levels of both service and hygiene at this branch of the Lounge.
