点评:This time round, when we visited Cape Town, we went to Aquila Game Reserve to do the Big Five. After the reservation via Viator, we received an email regarding payment of the game reserve fee, which was separate. The Viator payment was for the travel to and from the hotel to the Game Reserve, so you have to pay for the Safari separately (which is mentioned clearly in the fine print). Make sure to do that asap, as apparently Aquila gets full. We got a confirmation email of the payment, so the process was quite secure. On the day we were picked up at our hotel around 8.30 am by James. The drive to Aquila was about 2 ½ hours. Apart from us, there was another couple who James picked up from a nearby hotel. Neither of us was interested in any winery visit, so we drove directly to the Game Reserve and arrived around midday. We went straight to the buffet lunch. If you’re vegetarian, the food choices you have are slightly limited, so the husband ate very light! After lunch came the safari. Our guide James gave us some good advice to get to the bus early and made sure we were sitting at the front because I have motion sickness. I’m so glad I listened. The safari bus was packed to its full capacity as there were so many tourists. There were quite a few buses all packed as well as it was peak season. Our guide was very entertaining and enthusiastic. We saw springbok, baboons, rhinos, zebras, hippos, giraffe, elephants, eland, ostrich, buffaloes, to name a few. The lion looked very sleepy and bored, and the lionesses were just very sleepy, but we were very glad to see them at least. We were told there is very little possibility of seeing a leopard as they come out at dark. We were back in the early evening via the Huguenot tunnel. In terms of value for money it’s ok. Last time we were in Cape Town, we went to Bufflesdrift and Botlierskop, and I definitely enjoyed those reserves a lot better. We’ve lived in Nairobi before, so the whole safari experience was not a new thing for us, so I guess if this is your first safari experience it’s a good introduction. James was a great storyteller and knew a lot about the history of Cape Town and its vicinity. Cape Town is beautiful, and the drive through the mountains was amazing.
PS. Remember to bring your ID as you will need to show that at the Aquila entrance.
Remember to bring cash for gratuity, which is always welcomed.
For a more private experience, I would suggest doing the private game drive like we’ve done before.

附言。请记住携带您的身份证件,因为您需要在阿奎拉入口处出示该身份证件。
记得带现金以支付小费,这是很受欢迎的。
为了获得更私密的体验,我建议像我们之前那样进行私人游戏驾驶。
