Pantanal Jaguar Safaris的点评
点评：We recently completed a 10-day photography group tour in Pantanal with Pantanal Jaguar Safaris. The tour was run flawlessly from start to finish. Highlights of our tour were:
— Jaguar sightings every day. We must have seen 15-20 distinct Jaguars.
— Numerous Giant Anteaters including one carrying its baby on its back
— Tons of River otters
— Caiman galore
— Couple of Tapirs, including one that was being stalked by a Jaguar
— Numerous birds
For us, a good tour is more than just animal sightings - its a combination of the Guide (most important), Transportation, Accommodation, and Food.
Our guide was just fabulous in more ways than one. His intuition was probably his biggest asset. There were times when we were just waiting and wanted to move on but he asked us to be patient. And voila, here comes the Jaguar. His ability to see a Jaguar was just as close as his intuition. Since this was a photography trip, he made sure we were positioned in the best possible light and able to take pictures. Many times, he would invite us to sit/stand where he was so that we could be in the ideal spot for our pictures. I really appreciated these gestures. He put his customers first!
The lodges we stayed at — Baiazinha Hotel, Piuval Lodge and Hotel Pantanal Norte - I would rate all of them excellent given the remote locations they are in. All had A/C rooms, wi-fi, comfortable beds, running hot and cold water, and had plenty of sockets for charging camera batteries and laptops simultaneously. The rooms were clean and had daily maid service.
Our transport was excellent too. We traveled in a mini-bus that could seat 10 people but we were only 6 people in the group. Majority of the time, we were in a boat for the safari outings. The boats too were excellent with comfortable seats. And the boat drivers were great too.
The food in all the lodges was good. The food was similar in all the lodges - It was typical Brazilian food along with some various pasta dishes. However, even good food when eaten every day kinds becomes boring. Now don’t take this as complaining, its just an observation and our experience.
Our tour was run by Pantanal Jaguar Safaris. My communication with them was direct and straightforward from the beginning to the end. I had numerous questions about the guide, their communication, their experience, the transportation used, lodges, travel durations from one spot to the next et al. All my questions were answered politely, efficiently and with details. They even communicated with me after the tour to ask if I was satisfied with their tour and services provided. And that I think deserves appreciation.
