点评:My husband and I had noticed this restaurant last week as we were driving by. Having never had Nepalese food before and seeing that they were getting good reviews we decided to go there for lunch today. We had a super great time.
The staff are very nice and told us all about the menu prior to us ordering. We also had a nice chat with them about Nepal and Katmandu, Everest and the culture. Really interesting!
We ordered three dishes and started with the Everest Tandoori Momos (Dumplings). There are 10 momos on a plate and our server suggested we try 5 Veg and 5 Chicken which we did. Both were delicious. The dumplings are cooked in a Tandoor oven and served with a flavoursome aromatic dipping sauce.
We then shared two dishes....the Veg Thali Set and the Himalayan Choila Set. We brought home most of the Choila set as the portions are generous and we couldn't eat it all.
The Veg Thali set comes with Basmati Rice/Vegetable curry/Pappadum/Potato Pickle/Pickled Daikon/Mustard greens/lentil soup with King of Yogurt. You pour the Lentil Soup (Dal) over the rice and then top it with the Vegetable curry. Everything on the plate was delectable. The Pappadum adds a nice crunch, the Pickled Daikon is a tad sour and neither of us had ever had King of Yogurt before. Very tasty! We ate every last bit.
The Himalayan Choila Set is Marinated chicken roasted in a clay Tandoor oven coated with Nepalese spices and served with Beaten rice (Chiura)/Puffed Rice (Bhuja)/Pickled Daikon/Spicy Potato salad/Soybean salad and Sweet and Sour Hog Plum Sauce. The Plum sauce was served as a Digestive and I really enjoyed it. Sour Hog is a fruit that looks like a green Mango. We were happy we tried the Beaten and Puffed Rice but it isn't something that we'd probably order again. Reminiscent of dry cereal to us but fun to try. The Soybean salad was really cool.
We had a really nice experience and will certainly go back soon. The menu here is extensive serving food from Indo-China/Hakka, India, and even Sushi.
