Higos Y Olivos的点评
点评：We were vacationing in Cabo and wanted to meet a local friend out for dinner. He suggested an off-the-beaten-path local favorite Higos y Olivios (Figs and Olives). It turned out to be a great recommendation.
At first glance, the entrance off a secondary road seemed a bit rustic, but charming and inviting nonetheless. Soft lights and gentle music were comforting in a town where bright lights and noisy boldness often overwhelm the senses. The staff and owners were very kind and welcoming and the dining areas were very nicely appointed with a myriad of interesting pictures and posters and signs to amuse and entertain.
The menu leans Italian, a popular genre in Cabo, but with very Mexican twists. Our chips and guacamole + chickpea appetizers were not only beautifully presented but very tasty as well. And for dinner, we chose the pizza which was an amazing crisp but fluffy tortilla-like base with fantastic red sauce with cheeses and meats abundantly layered on top.
The service was very attentive and the overall price very reasonable. There were other diners there as well, but we did not feel crowded and as well the soft tones and atmosphere were conducive to conversation and relaxation.
They do have music present on weekends, so there may be noisier moments in time, but for our visit, the situation was perfect. We would certainly go back again and highly recommend to anyone.
I rarely give a 5 rating as I reserve such for only near perfection. The overall thematic message conveyed by most of the wall items and wall decor leans a bit too much to USA culture and would prefer a more true Mexican flavor. And there are a few nooks and crannies I thought that still looked like works in progress. But these are minor compared to the overall experience at Higos y Olivos. Salud!
