点评:We visited the Tulum Archaeological Site on June 16, 2025, as part of a Royal Caribbean excursion titled Tulum Mayan Ruins and Playa Del Carmen Experience. The site itself is breathtaking—perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, with well-preserved ruins and a deep sense of history.
Our guide, Tony, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Mayan culture. He provided rich historical context and insight into the traditions and architecture of the site. The ruins were fascinating, and we even spotted wild iguanas roaming the grounds!
However, there were a few logistical challenges:
We had to fill out waivers while riding in a van, which was difficult and rushed.
We weren’t allowed to bring plastic or backpacks into the site, but no clear explanation was given—likely due to preservation efforts.
The chocolate and tequila tasting at the end felt underwhelming. The chocolate was served from a communal jar without napkins or sanitation, and the tequila was overpriced compared to other shops.
One important note: climbing the ruins is no longer allowed, reportedly banned since 1999 to preserve the structures. While this was a bit disappointing, it’s understandable given the historical significance.
Despite the minor issues, the Tulum ruins are a must-see for history lovers and photographers alike. The views alone are worth the trip, and the cultural experience is unforgettable.
