点评:This was one of the most spectacular experiences of my life. A dear and worldly friend of mine who had spent a few months in Tokyo told me this was his first and most important recommendation. I now know why.
After some issues with my own schedule, and having to change my reservation time. Akira told me I could come during a night I previously thought he was closed. When I arrived, I realized he had decided to open the restaurant just for me. I could not believe this kindness.
I had the incredible pleasure of experiencing the elegance and beauty of not just every piece of sushi and delectable food he placed in front of me, but also the space. Every detail was thought of, a place and experience where everything was special, every instant had meaning, as in a perpetual reverence for the food, nature, time, and the pleasure of another’s company. I felt myself holding back tears, in awe of how delicious and delightful everything was.
He and I got to know each other a bit. I learned about his training, what his days are like, where he’s from. I got to share a bit about my life in New York. I felt warmed by his gentleness, curiosity and kindness.
It was an unforgettable experience. And one i hope to share with loved ones one day in the future.
Do yourself a favor and go.
