The food and service here are exceptional, prompting us to return midweek to try the à la carte menu, which has something for everybody. Prawns pil pil can sometimes disappoint (often frozen), but here, they serve fresh, juicy prawns in plentiful supply with a simple sauce that compliments and does not overwhelm the sweet taste. One of their unique specialities not commonly found on menus these days is tender calf liver, served with rich gravy, lean bacon, and sweet onions that perfectly complement the rich flavour. If you have room at the end, there is a huge selection of traditional freshly made puds.
Décor is minimalist and could use a few finishing touches, but all the essential ingredients are in place. Manager Catherine is charming and attentive and goes out of her way to please. Service is friendly and super-efficient, and the house wine is excellent.
