点评：Can’t say enough positive things about Tobago Dive Experience. Our family of 5 (kids ages: 18, 18, 22) had a fabulous week diving with them, with all 3 kids earning or completing their PADI certifications. This shop is run by a husband-wife team of Sean and Kathleen, and a great team of professionals. Our trip to Tobago simply doesn’t happen without Kathleen’s absolute amazing dedication to our family. Kathleen was amazing. We were in constant communication via WhatsApp for months and she was THE resource for me to planning our trip. This went well beyond the diving – she helped with restaurant tips, touring ideas and tour guides, hotel recommendations, she even helped us get a flight off Tobago when the airline was seemingly completely booked solid. Kathleen is an incredible resource and was 100% dedicated to getting us to Tobago and making sure we had an experience to remember.
We stayed at the nearby Blue Waters Inn, and Tobago Dive picked us up by boat every morning at the hotel pier – on time to the minute. The diving in Tobago is very good. Reefs are healthy, with lots of soft corals, minimal hard coral bleaching, plenty of fish, and occasional ‘big stuff’ like turtles, rays, nurse sharks, and so forth. Water is warm and the boat ride to the reef is so short you can return to the jetty for your surface interval. The 12 dives we did didn’t feature tons of dramatic features like deep narrow canyons or swim through, but there were a nice variety of sites and even a purpose sunk wreck. I would 100% go back there. Plenty to see, and every dive is different.
Sean and his fantastic team of dive masters and instructors were full-service and safety conscious. They handle all gear, lug all the tanks, and put their hands on every diver before every dive. The only issue I have with their operation is that their training pool is quite small – and I would say, too small. I think for the brand new divers in our family, getting wet and training in such a small pool did not afford the same opportunity to practice and swim as those who can train in a 25 meter pool , or a pool used for platform or high diving. My personal view is that this pool is too small to get good practice in swimming with the gear, especially with three divers (2 adults and one instructor) in the water together.
Tobago Dive is a true authentic Caribbean “Island” experience. There was no need for a deposit. Or a formal booking confirmation, or reservations, or time-slots. We just talked to Kathleen, and she assured us that they will be able to handle whatever diving and classes we wanted to do when we got there, on our schedule. And they 100% did just that. We didn’t pay a penny until after all of our dives were complete, and then we just settled up in the shop at the end. Very old fashioned and it made us feel like long-time trusted customers. I hope we make it back there someday soon.
