点评：The St Jude's Anglican Church is part of the South West Slopes Ministry District and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The original church building was dedicated in 1874.
Tumbarumba became a separate parish in 1904, although from 1879 – 1883 it had an independent status until re-attached to Adelong. However, ministrations in the district began at least by 1855. From 1855-1879 Tumbarumba was included variously in the parishes of Tumut, Albury, Tumut again, and then Adelong. As a missionary district from 1894–1903 it was in the charge of a licensed stipendiary reader (admitted deacon 1902) with visits by ministers from neighbouring parishes.
There are a few plaques that give some insight to the history-
Plaque 1. This foundation stone - of the original - St Judes Church, Tumbarumba - was laid by the - Rev D P Jones - on October 19th 1874.
Plaque 2. At the base of the bell tower records: This Bell Tower the gift of the Martin Family commemorates the work of Jean and Albert Martin in this parish between 1940 and 1975. Dedicated by the Rt Rev J R Randerson on November 17 1996.
Plaque 3. On the extension records: St Jude's Tumbarumba Church Extensions dedicated by the Rt Rev O D Dowling, Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn on 13th October 1985. J D Clark, Rector.
The church has a pretty aspect as it sits high in the church yard. I drove into the churchyard as there is room to park a handful of cars and I was able to leave via a back lane. It is exceptionally well maintained and has services every Sunday at 10am.
