点评:I’m currently trapped in La Cochera while El Club de Lectura watch Cinema Paradiso dubbed into Spanish with no subtitles.
I saw the poster advertising the film in the window of the bar, the same way I see all of their events & was surprised when I turned up to find I was the only English speaker (my Spanish is ok, just not good enough to watch an Italian film dubbed into Spanish).
The stand-in manager from Belgium said that I should’ve noticed that it was a private film presentation by the local reading club, when I read the poster marketing the event in the front windows of the bar/club.
Apparently the devil is in the detail.
I should’ve noticed something was up when I turned up 5 mins late for the film & found the windows all blacked out with bin-liners & the door locked - reminded me of the Jamaican Blues parties I used to go to in Birmingham in the 1970s & early 1980s.
Being of the ever curious kind of guy who doesn’t let locked doors & blacked windows stop him, on the contrary I was quite intrigued.
I went to the gym next door, found a pair of ladders & tried to get in using the tradesmen’s entrance.
My plan was foiled by a cigarette smoking beauty who was taking a break from the bar & the words, “perdon” were uttered to me from beneath some tarpolin, with not a little incredulity in her voice.
“Am I late for the start of the film?”, I said, as tried to get my leg over.
Talking of which, what’s the beauty’s phone number?
