Naturellement Garden Cafe的点评
点评：We were spending the day exploring Auroville on rented bicycles. We started out at the bike rental place at the Auroville visitor center and loosely followed the suggested bike route of a few miles, passing attractions like the youth center, some farms and residential areas along the way. It was a typically hot and humid sunny August day, so we (my husband, two kids and I) were pretty worn out at about the midway point even though it's far from being a strenuous ride. Stopping at Naturellement Garden Cafe was just the thing we needed.
Just the setting alone is beautiful - lovely secluded and calm under a canopy of trees. We had the option of choosing an AC room but we didn't actually take it because the outdoor seating was so nice. They have a variety of homemade juices which you can have with or without soda. The place is totally unassuming and homey, and seems to embody the spirit of the Auroville community. My husband ordered a ragi galette which was literally the best thing we ate during our 4 day visit to Pondicherry and Auroville - and that's saying a lot because we had a lot of amazing meals. Such a simple idea but a perfect blend of cuisines - using a local grain like ragi (millet) to make what was otherwise a pretty French-tasting savory galette, with a delicious tomato based filling.
There was something dreamlike about the whole experience - we went upstairs to explore the terrace and roof area for a little while after we ate, and then picked up our bikes to finish the rest of the ride. There are other cafes on the route - but I highly recommend this one, it was a perfect interlude!
