点评:We ended up here after a hard day's poking around little shops and we just wanted to eat somewhere close. It's a light and airy venue with friendly staff. The menu is interesting and I had the meatloaf which was really good and a good call on my part because they had a burgundy beef pot pie on the menu as well that my friend ordered and enjoyed.
My vegetable accompaniment was pretty pedestrian, though, as no thought went into them other than steaming. If they gave the beans and carrots any sort of culinary treatment it would have made a much more worthwhile dish. As it is, these dishes are at a pub-food standard. Nothing wrong at all with that, as I love pub food, but with just a little more attention, Fortnums could elevate itself above this.
As an aside, the pot pie is old hat now. It should disappear like the open club sandwich, serving meat on a board or putting your parma on top of your chips.. How about just making a complete pie? A pot pie is lazy and unsatisfying. Fix up the vegetables and I will come back for that delicious meatloaf, though. Meatloaf. Who would have thought...Damn it was good.
