Love the market. I actually come here once a year to buy soap from April. Old whaling Co I think is the name. Best soap I've ever used for my face. Many different artist and their work. It's great.
The market is good to pick up last minute souvenirs. I walked out with shea butter and that's about it. If your looking for the Charleston baskets, this is a good place to come. Overall, it didnt strike my fancy.
We found the Charleston City Market to be a glorified, touristy flea market. Besides the handmade baskets - there wasn't much original or special to see. Would skip it next time.
Nothing bad about this place. Loaded with history and everything you could possibly want from gifts to food to jewelry for that special one in your life.
I was here two days ago and it just didn't meet my expectations. Much of the jewelry seems machine made and over priced but I appreciate the authenticity of the sweetgrass works of art. Many different shops & vendors to walk along and see, particularly on a nice, sunny day. Go check this out & support local vendors and get good deals in the process!
My 7 year old daughter loved the market! So did my mom and me so basically good for all ages. Loved the representation of all Charleston history. Still have a lovely Christmas table runner I purchased that I happily put out every year.
