The location is the best positive of this hotel as this is very close to the Bus Terminals although I would think the locality is a bit suspect but I am not sure though...This is in Manila but far from the noisy streets. The rooms are very small, but you really don't care if you'll just stay overnight...For longer stay, I won't recommend Lakbayan. It is clean, and very boutique with lots of paintings. The service is just so basic but the price is cheap (Manila Standards).
Ok, so I needed a place to stay overnight near UST, where I will take a written exam. This is the nearest I found online, so I booked it at pretty low price about 4 weeks prior to my stay. Pros: 1. It's homey and wholesome upfront. The lobby was clean, with decent paintings hanging on the walls, wooden staircase that feels like this used to be a family house. 2. Location. It is only a short block away from both Espana avenue and Lacson avenue, two major veins in the heart of Metro Manila. UST gate 1 is just a block away, Perpetual Soccour Hospital is also just one block away, there's a ministop a block away, 7/11 three blocks away, restaurants like (Shakey's and Goldilocks) a few blocks away. 3. There are laundry machines downstairs for rent, and an eatery that serves tapsilog and sisig next to it. Rooms come with air-conditioning, cable TV, and hot shower. All the basic necessities are there. Cons: 1. Poor maintenance. My first room had a broken sink, so when I brushed my teeth all of the sewerage gushed out from under the sink. I was transferred to another room that has no window and no hot shower. 2. I could hear the people in the next room, and people walking down the lobby. In my first room, I could hear the traffic from outside. At 2am, while studying, I could hear romping from another room. That's pretty embarrassing. 3. No phone and no wi-fi. The lack of wi-fi was okay because my smartphone had 4G mobile data capacity, but the lack of a phone was a little of a disadvantage. I needed an early wake-up call for my exam. Overall, it is pretty basic. It has all you need for an overnight stay if you need to be in the area. But that's pretty much it. I would recommend it for backpackers who need a place near UST for any reason. It is inexpensive and there is real value in the superb location alone.…
