What a gem of a place! I knew it would be amazing before visiting it but I had no idea just how mind-blowing the real experience would be. It's not so much the main temple itself which was under renovation during my visit, it's the marble Hill of Hope at the back of the temple that completely took my breath... 更多
the Hill of Hope was worth our 2 hours from Hiroshima cause it's so unique from other temples in Japan. you'd need to take the ferry crossing the the island and walk (about 10 mins) and climb to the hill. I'd recommend if you care about the marble/architecture.
Stopped by as I was biking, spent about 2 hours. The marble was amazing, as was the cave of 1000 Buddhas. I went during a week day so it was very quiet and hardly anyone around. Found this temple on our bike tour of the islands outside of Onamichi. It is near the ferry pier at Setoda Port. Amazing ornate carvings with polychromatic treatment and gold colors with a predominate orange theme. Very dramatic and beautifully unique! There is an interesting 1000 Buddha grotto walk which is amazing. We were lucky to arrive when there were... 更多

Its cool and damp and initially features depictions of damnation, then three-storied vaults with spiraling little statues and waterfalls, then wends it way back up through other... 更多
A successful millionaire build this huge complex of imitation temples and structure of white marble stones atop of the hill in memory of his late Mother. The admission fee is rather high but worth the money. I was personally interested in the long cave in which many scenes of the HELL were seen
The temple area is rather large and the ticket covers multiple areas within the temple area. Apart from the colourful... 更多
