This is the main temple of Gokarna.
We were allowed to touch the atmalinga and take the blessings.
Didnt take much time too, around 10 mins as the crowd as less.
The temple is very near to Main beach and cars can be parked there.
Must visit place in Gokarna.
This temple is said to be a part of the narration of Ramayana, linked to Ravana the king of Sri Lanka. Among the three Sidhikshetras, ie holy places where the owes are said to be rewarded with positive results, Gokarna is considered the most important. Gokarna Purana is said to explain in detail the importance and uniqueness of this place....
expected some sanctity at the temple after reading so much about its history. Inside the temple, there were dry flowers in the main garbha gudi where the atma linga is placed and the place smelled unpleasant. priests rush to you and in a way stress on "dakshinas"...all this was so obvious. Dint feel the devotional peace at all when compared...
