We only spent a few minutes here. The cemetery is the final resting place for those who gave their lives defending their beliefs. The grounds are well kept and there is a small parking area if you wish to get out and stretch your legs.

The Stones River National Cemetery is a sad and somber place to visit. There are service members as young as 14 years old buried here. Can you imagine fighting for your country at 14?

This is a lovely cemetery. It is a national cemetery, so even though it is connected to a civil war battlefield it has graves dating to Vietnam. I would definitely recommend going on a tour since the signage doesn't give the full story.
