Construction on this architectural gem, the largest octagonal house in the U.S., began in 1860, but was interrupted by the onset of war. A National Historic Landmark, the still-unfinished mansion is an enduring symbol of the impact of the Civil War.

Impressive house but the stories about it are even more interesting. Because the upper floors were never finished you can see the structure of the building.

This places is really cool since it's in an octagon shape, but it's upsetting that it was never finished. It would have been magnificent. The guide wasn't the best which lowered my rating, but overall, really cool. Plus it's the place where the King of Mississippi lived in True Blood!

What this house would have been had it been finished is unbelievable! It is worth the visit just to see the grounds but to imagine what might have been is also worth the visit. A beautiful shell of a home that was interrupted due to the circumstances of the time. I have been here many times and each time the... 更多

We visited Longwood during our stay in Natchez. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the property and area. We enjoyed it very much.

Longwood is a great tour. To make you visit there more enjoyable - learn as much as you about the home and its builder Dr. Haller Nutt. Construction begain in 1858 but was ended with the outbreak of the Civil Was in 1861. The skilled craftmen working returned North. The home today is as it was in 1861!

Seeing the unfinished mansion provided a great glimpse into construction techniques of the mid-1800's, as well as the effects of the Civil War on southern families. Very unique experience.

We toured Longwood on a Saturday afternoon. We drove through a heavily wooded area to get to the home. It was, without question, the saddest story we heard all day. Longwood is worth a tour just to hear the history! We had a great tour guide and they have a very cool gift shop as well! Definitely put this one... 更多

One of many houses to visit in Natchez. Though never finished, the parts that are finished are as equally fascinating as the unfinished parts. Best laid plans of men....

Very interesting to see, the outside was spectacular, the inside was NEVER completed due to the start of the civil war. And then the owner went bankrupt....a shame, but definitely worth the couple hour visit.
