This basilica is quite extraordinary! You must stop in if you are in the vicinity to admire the architecture as well as the interior paintings. The church is presently (March 2017) undergoing extensive renovation which should be concluded in a month. I had no idea that Christianity was so prevalent in southern India until my recent visit to Kochi.
We visited St. Andrew's Basilica is just on our way back from Alleppey to Kochi. There was a renovation work going on at the time we did visit it, but the beauty and charm of this old basilica is an experience in itself. Do visit and feel the magnificent altar, the statues, and murals.
Arthungal church ,sand was all over place and you can see a rock made new church in front of old church .Altair is a good example of old architecture.
