I liked the north beach area better to relax and see the lighthouse. South beach is better for swimming but seems to be a popular spot. Loved our visit to Tybee Island.
Stop in here to see what its about but its ok,water was muddy looking, and you can catch 4ft.sharks right off the pier this beach is to sit on the sand not to bathe.
The beach was closed for the most part so it took a while to get on. It happened to have been a bit cold so by the time we got on the beach and through the construction it was freezing and wasn't as enjoyable. It is pretty though and I'm sure nice in the summer just not in the winter.
Easy beach to get to. Parking is nearby (metered, I think 25 cents for 15 minutes). Beach is hard sand at low tide. Quiet. Breezy. Not very good for finding sea shells. Local scavengers usually get the best pickings. I found it great for a long, leisurely relaxing undisturbed walk.
Tybee offers very wide, powdery sand beaches that are great for walking. There is some shelling to be done. There is a pier but it was blocked off so not accessible. I get the impression it is a madhouse in the summer months with lots of partier types and drinking. Stop by one of the shops around 6th st to... 更多
If you love beaches and Piers, you will fall in love with South Beach..It is my opinion that South Beach is the main attraction in Tybee Island.
Tybee Island is overall beautiful. However, South Beach has its particularities starting with the cleanness of its beach sand and how well it is kept. I spent time walking on the sand with bare feet and I feel as I am a different person since then: joint pain free!!!
We were there for the Art Students Display. The beach was clean and well kept, even with all the crowds. The unbrella and lounge chair renters were very accomadating. Parking was good and close.
